Mark your calendars and invite your friends!  Sunday, July 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM is the fourth annual Mary Magdalene Celebration at North Church.  Plans are underway for this unique event co-sponsored with Advent UCC.

Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the risen Christ on the third day after the crucifixion.  Called the "Apostle to the Apostles" she was one of the most important disciples who followed Jesus Christ.  As a woman, her story came to be discredited or ignored by many people for centuries.  Our celebration in her honor consists of a service of music and drama in the sanctuary and a feast in Fellowship Hall.  This year's feast is expanded beyond Middle Eastern to include BarBQ chicken. We celebrate on the Sunday near her traditional feast day of July 22.

Last year approximately 150 people participated in the service and 128 stayed for the feast.  Of those, about 60 were from North Church, 40+ from Advent and others were guests of family and friends, from the community, from other churches, and through the Spirituality Network.

The Mary Magdalene Celebration provides an awesome opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers and seekers to join you in a unique event.  Reservations must be made by July 10 since we need an accurate count for the food and other preparations.  Suggested donation is $8.00 per person.  Childcare is offered free by advance reservation only, with parents providing a sack supper for their child.
